First Thursday Club @ The Hourglass

All First Thursday Club gigs have been cancelled until further notice owing to the coronavirus. The Hourglass is now closed. Please check here for up-to-date information on future dates. We look forward to seeing everyone later in the year!

An antidote to a mad world. On the first Thursday of each month get down in the basement for blues and Bacchic fury. Drink, dance, dally. Rob Brown will hold it all together while he falls apart. Featuring blues, roots, folk, ragtime (and bobtail), Gets/z Loose and guests. Emerge to face another bewildering month!

The First Thursday Club @ The Hourglass also promotes live music from other genres – not necessary on a Thursday! See below for details.

County Farm Blues

A Son House original played by Gets/z Loose.

Gets/z Loose

Not a singer but indubitably a voice. We have recently filmed and recorded a whole gig. And we can bear to watch it – blindfold.

Hear Rob on YouTube, Vimeo and SoundCloud. Check out the songs that lurk online: https://soundcloud.com/getszloose.

Blue to Brown

Blue to Brown is a father–son band playing blues and blues rock, with Rob as lead vocalist. Dom’s day job is lead guitar with Duran Duran and Blue to Brown calls on top players from name bands and the session world to provide bass, drums, keyboards and horns.

The Disappearance of Finbar

Rob sang the key narrative 'pop' song in Jonathan Rhys Meyers' first film.

Back in the days

When the days weren't numbered.

We haven't changed a bit! But the technology has. This was filmed at the Monmouth Festival. Gets/z Loose were briefly famous in Wales.
